We Will Go

Mr Joe

Mr Joe was here Tuesday. Mr Joe is about 65 years old, sweet man who calls all of us darling. He usually wears same clothes for a week and smells like stale cigarette smoke and remnants of alcohol. I know I’ve ministered to him the last year and a half I’ve lived here…as well as the 15 other people who have lived at we will go the past 5 years. He sits on a porch with about 5 or 6 other friends in an old house falling apart off of fortification street.

I pulled into my driveway tuesday abiut 12:45. Mr joe sat outside on the peace house porch and never went in for noon prayer. He waited for someone else to come home so he could ask for food. That was me and he walked over and said “can I get a snack bag?”
My response was “well Joe did you go in for prayer today?” He said no. I said why didn’t you walk to stewpot or gateway for lunch if you were hungry? He said no- it’s too far. Hmmmm I thought to myself.
I asked Joe what he did yesterday – “nothing” his response. I asked Joe what he did that morning he said “nothing” I then asked him – what’s your plan the rest of the day Joe? “nothing”
I thought to myself Lord give me words!

I said with boldness “Joe the Lord created you for a purpose and it’s not to sit on a porch all day long! There’s more God has for you but you have to choose that for yourself and get up! You don’t know how much time He has for you. Dont waste any more time!”

He had nothing to say…but can I get a bag?

I went inside and got a bag walked out to hand him the bagbnd pray the same words over Him as i looked him in the eye. He walked off. The Lord gave me those words from scripture, and reminded me how important it was to speak it out and that it would never return void.
